What is the purpose and mission of Relevant Bible Teaching?
Theme Verse:
The theme verse of this ministry is John 17:17 which says, “Sanctify them in the truth; your Word is truth.” This was Christ’s prayer to His Father shortly before His crucifixion. He deeply desired that His followers, including believers today, would intensely study God’s Word, for He knew that it was the only hope that they would have of growing to be more like the Master. This is especially important in a world that denies absolute truth because it is only through the Scripture that we can know truth and be changed by it.
Core values:
This ministry stands firmly upon the sufficiency of Christ and the sufficiency of His Word. The sufficiency of Christ means that in Christ, God has given us the resources through His Spirit to, by faith, grow in Him and do as He has commanded. Of course, this will be difficult, and we will stumble at times in many ways (James 3:2). Yet God has provided so that we can walk not as those who are defeated but as victors. He has given us all that we need for life and godliness in Christ (2 Peter 1:3). The sufficiency of Scripture means that God’s children can be adequate and thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). In other words, the Scripture gives us all that we need to know in order to be able to properly live this life and conduct ourselves on this earth. By implication, the sufficiency of Scripture establishes the authority of the Scripture, meaning that man’s opinions are always subject to the dictates of Scripture. As such, the writing on this site will be saturated with Scripture, giving authority to the points made and to the teaching provided.
Purpose:
Relevant Bible Teaching exists by God’s grace to preach the Word in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2), not adding or taking away from God’s Word (Revelation 22:18-19).
This ministry is not about advancing man’s ideas or “feel good” messages but only the truth. We are not sanctified in worldly wisdom but through the Scripture alone as the Spirit teaches us accordingly.
Mission:
The mission of Relevant Bible Teaching is to teach anyone who has ears to hear the whole counsel of God, thereby fulfilling the Great Commission of making disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).
Our job as believers is to sow the seed of the gospel or to water seeds that others have planted. It is up to God to bring the growth, and this ministry is content to trust God with growth His way and on His terms (1 Corinthians 3:6). This means that there will be a concrete focus upon rightly teaching the Word of God and in sharing the gospel message. If we sow wisely, we will reap in eternity.
